A Peace

A Peace was written for piano and a Kurzweil K2000 patch producing live algorithmic ambient music. The recording here is a performance by the composer on Feb. 21, 1997 during the fourth concert of the Underground Composers’ League at the University of Toledo.

The Wind That Lifts the Trees is — like most of my earliest compositions — a work for solo piano. This is one of the few pieces from that time of which I am still fond. It was commissioned by my good friend Michael McLawhorn.
